In a strange year for all college basketball 2020-21, Saturday night was a ray of hope and a potential stepping stone for Roy Williams and his UNC basketball program
The Tar Heels competed at Duke on Saturday as one of the last four teams in the NCAA tournament, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi in his latest bracketology They had to book a couple of wins here last month to secure their offer. It wasn’t easy and Duke struggled several times and gave us a classic UNC Duke, but in the end the tar heels dropped to 12-6 overall and 7-4 enforce in the ACC
It was a big win for several reasons, but it also sparked a three-game loss to the Blue Devils and given the tar heels the upper hand this season
After the game, Williams paid tribute to his post-game tradition of dancing in the locker room after big games, and it was no different from watching Roy and the boys celebrate after the 91-87 win at Durham:
While the Durham win was a big one, UNC now has a quick turnaround as they prepare to host Miami’s Monday night The Hurricanes are a seedy team that UNC hooked up earlier this year and a week ago also defeated Duke
The Tar Heels really can’t afford a disappointment as they have to finish strong these next eight games to make sure they take part in the NCAA tournament and they will have some chances to populate their resume with a few ranked games
