Prepare for a walk back in time as the British royal family just shared a throwback photo of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip

The family’s official Instagram account released a rare picture of the royal couple from the 1970s today in honor of World Book Day

In the photo, Queen Elizabeth is sitting at her desk casually flipping through a book while Prince Philip stands right behind her.Although he is looking into the distance, he has a protective hand on her back (you know, just in case )

The picture was taken in the Balmoral Castle library in 1976 with an explanation of the floor-to-ceiling bookcases

In addition to the picture of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, the slideshow also includes a painting of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and a video of Camilla Parker Bowles celebrating World Book Day

The mail came just hours after Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Philip had gone through a successful procedure for a pre-existing heart condition The Duke currently resides at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, where he will stay for a few days for “treatment, rest and relaxation”
