MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO ​​/ AP) – A suspect is in custody and several people are injured after a shooting at an Allina Health Clinic in Buffalo Tuesday morning WCCO has now confirmed the suspect’s identity

WCCO-TV has confirmed the suspect is Gregory Ulrich, 67, from Buffalo. He is currently in custody in Wright County Jail

According to Wright County Sheriff’s Office officials, they received a report of gunfire at 755 Crossroads Campus Drive at 10:54 a.m. Buffalo Police Department and Wright County MPs responded

At 11:30 am, an Allina representative confirmed that there was an “active shooter” situation in the Buffalo Clinic

Wright County officials say a suspect has been arrested, the site has been evacuated and several people have been taken to hospitals for treatment

The schools in the region have been temporarily closed as a precaution

The public is advised to stay away from the area as there are multiple law enforcement agencies on site

Despite some early reports of explosive devices, Wright County’s John Holler said no bombs or explosives had exploded

North Memorial Health spokeswoman Abigail Greenheck said several victims were taken to her Robbinsdale hospital. She did not say how many or what condition they were

Gov Tim Walz spoke about the shootings at a Tuesday afternoon press conference, calling it a “tragic situation.” He said that at this point it appears to be an act of a single individual

Early Tuesday afternoon, the WCCO crews spoke to the owner of a business near the clinic, Doug Selle

“Things have calmed down a bit here in Buffalo since they were about 45 minutes ago,” Selle said. “I look right across from the Allina Clinic and see lots of flashing lights, ambulances, a fire truck and probably 20 sheriff’s Vehicles in front of the building ”

“The focus on those who devote their lives to saving others is as heartbreaking as it is appalling,” he wrote, “I pray for the injured, their families and our community”
