The Los Angeles Lakers signed a 10-day deal with center Damian Jones on Friday, the team said

Jones started the 2020-21 season with the Phoenix Suns but was canceled this week before his contract was fully guaranteed on Thursday
The 25-year-old competed for Phoenix in 14 games, averaging 16 points and 13 rebounds with 50% shooting in 67 minutes per game

Jones, a selection from the first round of Vanderbilt, was voted 30th by the Golden State Warriors in 2016 Overall rank withdrawn

Over 118 career games, the 6-foot-11 center has an average of 43 points and 28 rebounds in 133 minutes per excursion

With the suns, Jones was the only traditional center behind starter Deandre Ayton, but was made dispensable by Dario Saric’s success as Small-Ball 5 and Frank Kaminsky’s strong game

Kaminsky, who spent last year in a Phoenix uniform, rejoined the team after the Sacramento Kings waived him after an off-season and preseason with the opponent of the Pacific Division

Not only did Phoenix save money by foregoing Jones, but it also opened up an extra roster slot in the event that they move before close of trading on Jan. March

For the Lakers, Jones’ 10-day deal gives the NBA final favorite a glimpse of a sports center Los Angeles won the championship last year with a squad full of greats like Anthony Davis as well as centers JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard / p>

McGee and Howard have since left but have been replaced by the playful, down-to-earth tall man Marc Gasol and the undersized but energetic Montrezl Harrell
