Will Keenan Allen play the Las Vegas Raiders tonight or will his hamstring injury leave the chargers without WR1?
With the second week fantasy football playoffs, managers were likely surprised to find Los Angeles Chargers’ receiver Keenan Allen featured in the injury report as a playful decision for Thursday night, and Justin Herbert’s favorite target has seen one of his best fantasy seasons to date and would put manager in a tough spot if he doesn’t play the Las Vegas Raiders during their Thursday night soccer game. What is his latest injury status and what can we expect from Keenan Allen if he passes?
Last week against the Atlanta Falcons, Keenan Allen missed some time with a hamstring injury. He was in and out of the game but was still able to produce a somewhat productive fantasy performance with nine catches for 52 yards per touchdown Week 7 scored in all but one goal
Since Herbert Tyrod took over Taylor as a starter, Keenan Allen has been ramping up production and is currently the WR5 in the season with eight touchdowns and 975 yards Since the first week of the regular season, Allen has hit double-digit targets in every game, With the exception of two, his best performance was in Week 11 against the New York Jets (16 catches for 145 yards and a TD)
Hopes were high that Allen could repeat that win against a fighting defense in Las Vegas that will likely do without a number of starters Unfortunately, ESPN’s Adam Schefter now reports that Keenan Allen remains in question, and if he does play, he will likely be restricted
The question now arises whether Allen should play on your starting grid in your fantasy football if he has limited play
There’s no question that given his talent, Keenan Allen can do enough It depends on how many opportunities the team offers him
There’s a good balance between going conservative and not losing the edge at the same time. Sitting down on someone like Keenan Allen is never going to be easy, especially in a win-win or go-home situation, most likely Allen who has WR5 in The PPR season is going to play a big part in the success of your season
Unfortunately in our biggest game now, we have to guess what head coach Antony Lynn will do. If you’ve seen Chargers games this year, especially in the fourth quarter, you know how difficult it is with the increasing likelihood of WR Mike Williams doesn’t play, Keenan Allen will see all the work he can do on the field
The risk lies in the nature of the injury. Thigh injuries can always get worse, and once that happens the player is done for the day. Is it a massive risk? Absolutely, but it’s one that I’ll be adding to my fantasy leagues
It’s hard to leave Keenan Allen on your bench knowing the team’s WR2 is likely going down with a previous issue The Chargers aren’t playing for the playoffs, and they know that let’s say you’re seated tonight hypothetical by all Would they play him with nothing on the line again? I say this because, as much as they may not admit this, the players are looking at their stats, especially those of the broad receiver. During today’s game, Allen was able to set several new records I’d bet that’s on his mind and he wants those records in reach prime time
Thursday Night Football will be 100 Be game in the NFL and every reception will be a record Allen has the most receptions in NFL history in 100 games and he’s not even in 100 Game played Every catch from this point on is a new record
He also needs a reception to hit 100 in the season, which would be the third time in his career that he has 100 or more receptions and made him the 13th Players in NFL history would make to accomplish this feat
Allen needed six receptions to hit 105 in the year that would break his own team record in one season (104 in 2019) Allen also needs 25 yards to 1000 in the season It would be the fourth season in a row with 1000 yards and the fifth of his career, it would also be the longest streak of a Charger in over 50 years and also the second longest active streak. He also needs a touchdown to hit a new career high at nine that would surpass the eight he made in 2013 had his rookie season
Keenan Allen has something to play with just like the rest of us, and I would invest money in it, he knows all of these stats
As long as his injury doesn’t affect his performance, Keenan Allen could end up as WR1 by the end of the week. While he didn’t go more than 52 meters in his last three games, the volume gives Allen a massive floor in his last eight games has he seen fewer than 10 targets only once (seven in week 10) He has also scored a TD in six of his last seven games
The Raiders are a team he set fire to in Week 9. In that game, Allen had nine receptions, 103 yards, and a touchdown which made him one of seven receptors who completed with more than 21 PPR points against the Raiders The 16 allowed receiver touchdowns are the fourth most in football In the red zone, the teams focus on the receivers against the Raiders
In 13 games Las Vegas had achieved 46 goals in the red zone against WRs, 17 of them in goal-to-go situations. Would you like to guess who is in the top 10 of the goals in the red zone? You guessed it; It’s Keenan Allen He’s seen 15 red zone goals in the season, 12 for 112 yards and seven touchdowns His 25th goal percentage of 9% in the red zone is more than double the closest WR for the Chargers (Williams at 12) 1 %)
The Raiders also lost four starters in defense DE Clelin Ferrell, CB Damon Arnette, S Jonathan Abram and LB Nicholas Morrow
This game is a mini shootout, and if you look at Willam Hill Sportsbook they agree the Chargers and Raiders game has the highest implied total of week 155 at 52 The chargers come at 3 a.m. 5 point underdogs, which indicates a high workload for the passing game Keenan Allen will be in my lineups and rankings as WR1 QB Justin Herbert, RB Autin Ekeler and TE Hunter Henry are in the top 10 at their positions
If I am excluded from the dance, I perish with whoever brought me there
