Jennifer Love Hewitt looks back in disgust at the “inappropriate” questions reporters asked her about her body while promoting her film “Heartbreakers” 20 years ago

“By the time I went over it and asked the interviewers what was going to be incredibly inappropriate, gross things now, it didn’t feel like that,” she told Vulture on Tuesday,

“I mean, I was barely dressed in the whole movie. For some reason, I could just say in my brain, ‘Okay, I guess they wouldn’t ask if it’s inappropriate’”

In 2001, when the romantic comedy was released, Craig Kilborn, host of The Late Late Show, asked Hewitt for a fan-created website that rated her breasts in a variety of outfits

“It’s very trippy, it’s really weird,” said a then 23-year-old Hewitt of the website, to which Kilborn replied, “I think [men] are somewhat intrigued by a woman’s breast”and added,” There’s powerboat time “

Hewitt told Vulture that she laughed at similar comments at the time, but the now 42-year-old, who has a 7-year-old daughter, said becoming a mother changed her view of her previous experiences. p>

“I definitely look back and leave, ew,” Hewitt said, adding that she remembers the focus that was put on her body after the 1997 horror film was released: “I know what you did last summer did ”

“I was really tired of this conversation,” she said. “On Heartbreakers, that was a big part of it. I was disappointed that it was all about body work because I had worked really hard in this movie to get a good job to make as an actress ”

Hewitt added that she regretted laughing at some of the sexist questions and said, “I wish I might not have done it”

Though the media put her in awkward situations, Hewitt said co-workers on the set of “Heartbreakers” had been trying to protect her since she was in her early twenties at the time

“I remember there being more than a few people who said, ‘Okay, let’s make sure there are breasts and we don’t see any underwear,” she said as she opted for the role of Page Conners attracted young woman who teams up with her mother to cheat wealthy men out of their money

“People thought I was more willing to play Page because she’s more comfortable with her sexuality in the movie than I really was,” she said, “I was very young and I think people thought I would be more of that person because I did Maxim covers ”

The “9-1-1” star, who began her career as a child actress, added that she is related to Britney Spears, a young star who grew up in the entertainment industry around the same time

“When I saw this Britney Spears documentary, it hurt my heart a little because, in retrospect, I remember having this feeling,” said Hewitt. “I’m really grateful that we were in one It’s time that hopefully that narrative will change for young girls who are emerging now and they don’t need to have those conversations ”
