Actor Jahmil French, who starred in “Degrassi: The Next Generation”, died at the age of 29

“It is with a heavy heart that I affirm the death of a dear friend and client, Jahmil French,” the actor’s agent Gabrielle Kachman said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight, a ViacomCBS property

“He will be remembered by many for his passion for the arts, dedication to his craft, and vibrant personality. I ask that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” Kachman continued

CBS News has searched for more information and is awaiting a response. Cause of death has not been stated

The Frenchman, originally from Canada, played Dave Turner in the country’s hit teen series “Degrassi”, which also became popular in the US. He also played Dante Mendoza on the Netflix series “Soundtrack” “

Joshua Safran, creator and executive producer of “Soundtrack” tweeted on French on Tuesday, “I can confirm that my good friend, collaborator and all-round inspiration, Jahmil French, passed away yesterday,” wrote Safran. because I see the story coming out of there I’ll have more to say about him later. Right now we’re all just processing this devastating news “

“Soundtrack” star Christina Milian commented on French’s last Instagram post, a photo of him smiling “We will miss you 😢 Rest peacefully, King,” wrote Milian. French was posted after the news of his Death inundated with messages from friends and fans

Melinda Shankar, who appeared in French on “Degrassi” as his character’s love interest, posted on Instagram

“@jahmilfrench, you will always have such a special place in my heart,” she wrote, sharing several throwback photos. “Thank you for being one of the most talented, compassionate, nicest, and funniest friends I’ve ever been. You were so loved I am sharing some of my favorite images over the years to highlight its bright light I will miss our dance offs #Bhandurner forever “

Another Degrassi co-star Annie Clark also tweeted about French and shared a video in which he danced “Heartbroken over the loss of our friend Jahmil French,” wrote Clark, “I’ll be in this video I always think of him So full of energy and fun He always danced A real talent and a great friend We will all miss you so much, Jahmil “

In another post on Instagram and Twitter, Clark said she started out with French at “Degrassi” and felt particularly connected. “Jahmil was a great performer by nature, an incredibly funny scene partner and a beloved member of our Degrassi family “she wrote,” I just wish I could have experienced its brilliance more “
