WASHINGTON – President-elect Joe Biden is expected to be Dr Miguel Cardona, Connecticut’s education commissioner, as his election as education secretary, multiple sources told NBC News on Tuesday

If approved by the Senate, Cardona would ensure that the majority of the country’s students get back to school – something Biden has committed to within his first 100 days due to the coronavirus that many students across the country had to do -Pandemic practically received their training this year

During his campaign, Biden said he would choose someone to teach in public schools as an education secretary. Cardona began his career as a primary school teacher in Connecticut and then served as headmaster for 10 years

Cardona, who is Puerto Rican, would further diversify Biden’s cabinet. The president-elect could make the announcement as early as this week, CNN first reported on developments

Later on Tuesday, before the Christmas holidays, Biden will be making comments and is expected to answer questions from reporters

Biden is expected to hold the event around 2:30 p.m. ET The last time Biden asked questions from the press in a formal setting was December 4. He will also receive the President’s daily message and meet with transition advisors / p>
