The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Services have received several reports of “foreign matter” within the pepper species. What kind of foreign material do you ask? According to a USDA press release, “Pieces of Glass and Hard Plastic Apparently” four consumer complaints “have been received about the contaminated pizza snacks, including” a report of a minor mouth injury “”

The inspection service therefore has 762615 pounds of frozen hot pocket recalled, specifically 54-ounce packs labeled “Nestlé Hot Pockets Brand Sandwiches: Premium Pork Hot Pepper, Chicken & Beef Pizza Garlic Butter Crust.” The boxes in question were made between Nov. 13 and Nov. 16, with an expiration date of February 2022. Apparently, there could be small fragments of glass buried in these pockets giving them a Class I designation (“A hazardous situation where there is a reasonable likelihood that use of the product will cause serious, adverse health effects or death, ”according to the USDA) Anyone who has purchased Hot Pockets that match this description is advised to remove them

“The quality, safety and integrity of Nestlé USA and Hot Pockets products remains our # 1 priority,” said Nestlé, according to the New York Times. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this measure causes both our consumers and us Retail customers represents ”

The potentially vulnerable bags ran out across the country – you can find more specific information on batch numbers, etc., in the press release – so: Caution Although the injury seems to be an isolated incident, there is no way of knowing the dangers lurking in these microwaveable hand patties until it’s too late. Constant vigilance!
