Adolfo “Shabba-Doo” Quiñones, one of the ancestors of hip-hop dance and known for his roles in the breakdance films of the 80s Breakin’ and Breakin ‘2 Electric Boogaloo has died. He was 65 Years old

Shabba-Doo was one of the members of The Original Lockers, innovators of the dance style commonly known as Locking One of his fellow dance crew members, Toni Basil, announced the death of Quinones on Wednesday with no cause of death given

“It is with the greatest sadness that the Lockers family announce the unexpected death of our beloved Adolfo Shabba-Doo Quinones at this difficult time, we ask for privacy,” wrote Basil in a statement on Twitter

Quiñones was born and raised in Chicago He moved to Los Angeles in the early 1970s He was a member of the Original Soul Train Gang and played Ozone in the classic dance films Breakin ‘and Breakin’ 2 Electric Boogaloo and in the 1990 film Lambada Quiñones also appeared in Rave – Dancing to a Different Beat, that he also staged

He was also an award-winning musical theater choreographer, having choreographed for Lionel Richie, Madonna, Luther Vandross, and Jamie Kennedy’s MTV show Blowin ‘Up, among others.He was also an associate choreographer and lead dancer for the 78 Academy Awards and stepped with first-time Oscar winners Three Six Mafia and Taraji P on Henson for their performance of “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp.”””
