Michigan Basketball will compete with the UCLA Bruins in the Elite Eight rather than the expected Alabama Crimson TideAlabama stuttered in their Sweet 16 matchup and eventually lost to the Bruins in extra time

UCLA began their journey to the Elite Eight with a win over the Michigan State Spartans in one of the two play-in games, the eleventh seeded Bruins have crossed to this point and upset BYU They then blew the socks off Abilene Christian Wildcats with a 20-point win before they dumped Alabama

The Bruins Biggest Surprise Came Over Alabama UCLA upset Alabama 88-78 in overtime, but the Crimson Tide can only point to itself for that loss, Alabama only shot 25% from a distance (Jan.7th) And 44% from the free throw line (2511)

On the other hand, UCLA shot 80% (20/25) from the charity strip and just under 35% from the three-point range (10/29)If you split the rest of the numbers between the two, everything is almost the same, except that Alabama flipped the ball 14 times and UCLA only eight times

If you look at the free throw numbers, that ten-point spread doesn’t look all that impressive, and with all that in mind, it took the Bruins some extra time to break the tide

The Bruins may not be the most talented group, but it’s a team that just won’t give upUCLA likes to put the ball on the deck and attack the rim

The Wolverines will be Hunter Dickinson, Brandon Johns Jr and Franz Wagner need to continue their recent all-round but most importantly restorative success to ensure Michigan Basketball can once again lead to a win that will lead the team to the Final Four, the trio should have plenty of opportunity to play at both Dominating ends of the course against a smaller UCLA club

Michigan needs to cordon off a trio of talented UCLA guards, starting with Johnny Juzang accompanied by Jules Bernard and Tyger Campbell, I suspect Eli Brooks and Chaundee Brown are up to the task

The Bruins won’t beat Michigan inside, but if they get hot to kick the ball from the outside things could get a lot more interesting than expected, with the Bruins hoping to spread the Wolverines and attack the rim on an ISO ride to to finish them or leave them to an open field shooter

UCLA are a hard working group on the defensive keeping their opponents at a combined 24% shot from a distance, it’s almost amazing they are at this point considering the Bruins almost missed the tournament and have lost a total of four games in a row to end their regular season
