DENVER – – Jamal Murray threw the ball to Michael Malone with a slight disgust Will Barton urged Nikola Jokic to keep scoring until he reached 50 points

Jokic’s teammates wanted him to hit the mark a lot more than he was. He was just glad Denver had ended Utah’s winning streak in eleven games

“Hopefully I’ll score when we need it. It’s just a game,” said Jokic. “The main thing is to win the game, I’ll score as much as I need to win the game”

Jokic finished his career with 47 points and the fast-starting Nuggets beat Jazz 128-117 on Sunday to end the NBA’s longest winning streak of the season

Jokic was 17 for 26 off the field, hitting all four of his 3-point attempts, made 9 of 10 free throws and had 12 rebounds and five assists. He scored 33 points in the first half

With the game in hand, he went on the bench without worrying about being three points from the 50 hit

“I got him a few minutes before 50 Birthday said, but you know him, he doesn’t care, “said Barton.” He only plays basketball, is aggressive and is who he is. We definitely wanted the big guy to get 5-0 tonight ”

Barton added 18 points and Murray had 16 to help the Nuggets win for the sixth time in seven games

Utah lost for the first time since January 6 in New York Bojan Bogdanovic led the jazz with 29 points, and Donovan Mitchell had 13 in 31 minutes after missing two games on the concussion log

Denver hit all eight of its 3-point attempts and shot 80% in the first quarter. The Nuggets kept it up in the second half, knocking 13 of 24 off the field and finishing 15 of 17 remotely in the first half to take the lead at halftime 79-54

“We didn’t do our best, it hurts especially the way we played the last two games against Dallas,” Mitchell said. “Having that performance and they come out and they shoot 15 of 17 , that hurts the most ”

The lead was 86-58 at 8:11 in the third quarter when Utah made a big run. The Jazz hit eight 3-pointers to beat Denver 99-91 by 18 points

“We have reduced the lead to individual digits, but you are giving yourself a difficult climb and a small margin of error and have to be almost perfect,” said coach Quin Snyder

JaMychal Green had all nine points in the fourth quarter when the nuggets dropped back to 20. Jokic finished his career with a layup of 2:05 and sat down at 1:39 to the disappointment of his teammates

“I have no idea at this point, I have no idea Nikola has 47,” said Denver coach Michael Malone, “Jamal kind of broke that for me and I love the fact that he thinks of his teammates”

Jazz: Derrick Favors had seven points and six rebounds on his return -105 win over Denver on Jan 17 The winning streak was the longest since a 12-player February 11 March 10, 2009 The franchise record in 1996 is 15

Nuggets: G Gary Harris (left adductor trunk) stopped playing after first quarter. He didn’t try to shoot 8:45 am in court. Set season highs with 43-point first quarter and 79-point half

Mitchell only shot 3 of 12 out of the field in the loss but said he had no concussion issues that kept him out of the last two games

“They were making music like hell at the beginning of the game so I think I’m fine,” he said. “I’m feeling fine and just trying to get my rhythm back up, that’s the biggest thing, but not real at all Impact ”
