RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) – State law requires election officials to publish the number of provisional ballots in each county by noon two days after the election

The State Board has polled all 100 North Carolina County Election Councils and provides provisional ballot numbers by county below

Provisional ballots cast on polling day still need to be researched to determine voter eligibility Provisional ballots are issued when a person’s name does not appear in the poll’s register. ballot or when other questions arise regarding his eligibility to vote or vote for a particular ballot

After polling day, each county electoral council meets before certifying the results to make decisions on provisional applications submitted by voters If the commission determines that the voter is eligible, the provisional ballot is counted If the voter is eligible for some contests on the ballot paper but not for others, eligible contests will be counted for that voter These bulletins will be added to the results during the prospecting process

Ballots determined to be cast by eligible voters will be added to the results after absentee county council meetings scheduled until November 13 The State Council sets a schedule of board meetings for the county and will publish it as soon as possible
