St John played 425 games and scored 118 goals for the club after arriving from Motherwell in 1961

In a decade at Anfield under Bill Shankly’s leadership, the striker scored a legendary winner and secured Liverpool his first FA Cup when he beat Leeds United 2-1 in the 1965 final

The Scot was a central figure for Shankly’s squad and helped the club move up to the First Division in its debut campaign before winning the top crown in 1964 and 1966
