Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly was hoping to show off her quiz knowledge this afternoon to raise some money for charity at the ITV turning point: Lucky Stars With Former English Soccer Player Michael Owen and Comedian Hal Cruttenden she encountered stiff opposition, however, and after a rocky start to her time on the show on lap one, Ben Shephard had to grin as he revealed that she had made a fairly clear mistake on lap two

Tess’ time at the turning point wasn’t exactly the smoothest as the BBC regular struggled to stray from the finish line

In fact, both Hal and Michael had used all three tokens on the first round before Tess could put her remaining two in the machine

Tess was also the only famous face to have a question wrongly asked in the first round, which resulted in her sacrificing one of her points in the penalty pot

This was picked up by Hal and went into the second round Both Hal and Michael had 1Raised £ 100 for her chosen charity while Tess had amassed £ 600

Things didn’t change for the better in round two either, when it was Tess’ turn to start the rapid fire round

In this round, host Ben fired questions at the celebrities and the more answers they got right, the more counters they could put into the famous machine

Tess got a respectable three counters in the 30 seconds, but when she slipped on the last question, Ben pointed out a mistake

Ben had asked her: “In what decade of the 20th Century began the construction of the Berling Wall? “

When the timer ran out, Tess still appeared to be in thinking mode and replied with “pass” a few seconds after her allotted time had expired

Seeing the humorous side of the mistake, Ben brought it to the attention of the ITV audience by joking, “They said pass after time ran out”

Ben laughed at the mistake and assured Tess, “What I like,” while trying to shrug it off

Unfortunately, there was no going back for Tess on lap two and she was sent home with £ 600 for her charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital

This resulted in Hal and Michael racing against each other to see who could win the machine for the potential jackpot of $ 20Would assume £ 000

When they faced each other in the third round, it was the former Liverpool and Manchester United striker who came out on top with £ 3600 made it to the finals

And the former soccer player continued his good form on the final round of the show, pushing the jackpot counter closer to profitability with each category

After the jackpot counter however £ 6700 collected and used up the categories, it was still on the edge of the lower shelf

Michael had the chance to exchange the money he had already won for three more meters

After playing with the election, Michael admitted that he “couldn’t sleep” when he turned 20000 pounds could have won

But it turned out to be a wrong decision when Michael received a consolation prize of 1Pound 000 went home for charity after breaking the jackpot counter
