A teenager died in his “mother’s” arms after being stabbed in the neck to defend his family from thieves, his friends and relatives said

Detectives have opened a murder investigation after 18-year-old Hussain Chaudhry was attacked on a busy street in Walthamstow, east London during rush hour on Wednesday

He was pronounced dead at the scene after police and paramedics were called to Lea Bridge Road at around 5:00 p.m.

Police said the victim had been officially identified as Mr. Chaudhry and an autopsy Thursday revealed the cause of death to be hypovolemic shock and a stab wound on the neck

His sister Afia Chaudhry said on an online donation page, “Yesterday my beautiful little brother left this world the same way he came in, in my mother’s arms

“He died defending his family. His eyes were bright, his face showed no pain, he was at peace

“To God we belong and to Him we return. You are home now, baby, see you soon”

The Metropolitan Police said a man in their twenties and a woman in their forties, both related to Mr. Chaudhry, had cuts on their hands and were hospitalized

The man has since been released, but the woman remains in the hospital, added the troops

Wahab Ahmed, Mr. Chaudhry’s friend, who set up the mosque building page in his mind, described him as an “incredibly kind and beautiful soul”

“On Wednesday the 17th March 2021, my beloved friend Hussain Chaudhry was tragically taken from this world to protect his family from thieves, ”he said

“He was someone who always had a smile on his face and was a blessing to the church. He will be greatly missed”

Soas University of London said in a statement it was “shocked and deeply saddened” to learn of the death of Mr Chaudhry, who was a freshman law student

It said: “Hussain died yesterday in tragic circumstances and defended his mother in an attack in which she and his brother Hasan, also a Soas student, were both injured

“Both Hasan and his mother are recovering and we wish them a speedy return to health”

In a message to the students, Scott Newton, head of the university’s law school, and Dr Samia Bano, Academic Advisor to Mr. Chaudhry: “We will remember Hussain as a very kind and thoughtful student who loved studying law and brought that enthusiasm to his classes and interactions

“We all mourn him and our love, prayers and condolences go to his brothers Hasan and Aysh, also graduates of Soas law, and to his sister Afia, graduates of Soas history, and his parents, the Extended family and friends ”

Detective Chief Inspector Perry Benton has urged anyone driving in the area Wednesday night to check the dash cam footage and ask local residents to check the doorbell cameras for any insight into the crime

He said: “A young man has tragically lost his life and my thoughts are with his family and friends during this terrible time

“The attack occurred on a busy road during rush hour, and I know many vehicles would have passed by at the time of the incident”

Detective Superintendent Paul Whiteman said additional officials will be in the area in the coming days to reassure the community and listen to residents’ concerns

He said, “We continue to fight violent crime and work with a number of partners to prevent another tragic loss of life

“You will see additional officers in the area this week and they will use a variety of tactics to target those who choose to put others in danger with a knife”
