Southampton completed a late move to loan Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino for the remainder of the season

The Saints announced the signing of the Japanese forward streak two hours after the GMT deadline at 11:00 p.m. on Monday

He is replacing Shane Long, who joined the Bournemouth championship team on another late move on a fairly quiet deadline

But he’s been to Anfield on the outskirts and has only made four Premier League starts since arriving

Ralph Hasenhuttl, Southampton manager, said: “Takumi will help provide another good offensive option and is the right player profile for us”

“This will give us additional depth in our roster at an important time and I look forward to working with him on the training ground”

They were hoping to sign Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles, but talks broke down and he joined West Bromwich Albion
