Sarah Harding, 39, Girls Aloud star, was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer last year after seeking help for a cyst she thought it had spread to other parts of her body and the singer was told that she may only have months to live

I don’t want to feel like I have to spend the time I’ve been hiding

Sarah has now spoken about why she made the difficult decision not to receive radiation therapy

The pop star said she already knew her cancer was advanced and didn’t want to spend her limited remaining time without her hair

In an excerpt from her new book, Hear Me Out, published by The Times Magazine, she wrote, “There is an option for radiation therapy to my skull, but I don’t want to go through that and my hair right now lose with no guarantees in the end

“I don’t want to feel like I have to spend the time I’ve been hiding”

The pop star acknowledged that people believed their decision was “vain” but added, “I thought if there is a chance I only have six months, then I have six months”

Sarah added that she had told doctors that while she was “now struggling in several different areas” she would rather stick to her new chemotherapy regimen

The Girls Aloud star had a mastectomy and chemotherapy, but while the chemotherapy appeared to be working, the doctors told her they had found a new tumor at either the base of her spine or her brain

“This tumor scares me more than anything because I think it affects me the most,” she explained

The singer has already had a breast removed and she said the heartbreaking procedure felt like her femininity was gone

Sarah refused to give an exact forecast, but was told Christmas was likely her last

“Comfort and being as pain-free as possible is important to me now,” she continued, adding that she was trying to live every second of her life as best she could

In her book, Sarah also admitted that she was concerned about getting her diagnosis public, but later decided it was a great way to raise awareness

When she announced the news in August, she shared in the face of her 297000 followers posted a picture from their hospital bed on Instagram with

At the time, she was telling fans that she had weekly chemotherapy sessions and fought as hard as possible “


She added, “I do my best to stay positive and will keep you updated on how I am doing here

“In the meantime, I hope that you all understand and respect my request for privacy at this difficult time. I send so much love to you all”

The singer became famous in Girls Aloud with bandmates Cheryl, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts

After their breakup, she released solo songs, including Threads 2017 won the pop star Celebrity Big Brother
