Two previews of Harry and Meghan’s much-anticipated Oprah interview with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special

Prince Harry has said he feared history repeats itself and the process of leaving royal life has been “incredibly tough” for him and his wife, Meghan

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke to Oprah Winfrey about life in and outside the royal family

The interview with Winfrey, who lives near the couple’s new home in Montecito, Calif., will be aired Jan. It was shown in the UK on March 25th, one day after it aired in the US

In one of two 30-second commercials CBS posted on social media, Harry says, “I’m just very relieved and happy to sit here and talk to you with my wife by my side”

When shown a photo of him as a child with his mother, Princess Diana, he continued, “Because I can’t imagine what it must have been like when she went through this process on her own all those years ago, because it was incredibly difficult for both of us

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were sitting outside, Harry in a gray suit and Meghan – who is pregnant with her second child – in a black dress

A second clip features Harry saying, “My main concern was that history would repeat itself,” but the rest is dominated by Winfrey, with statements like, “You said some pretty shocking things here,” and “almost.” insurmountable – sounds like there“Was there a break?” with no indication of what it was referring to

It’s the most anticipated royal interview in recent years, so it’s no surprise that the producers of Oprah’s 90-minute chat with Harry and Meghan played some high-drama in the promo

But besides the threatening and moody music, they were also smart with the selection of the clips

We don’t hear from Meghan, we only see her face when Oprah teases us with questions and statements: “Have you been silent or have you been silenced?”, “You said some pretty shocking things here” – all us just ask us what on earth the Sussexes told her

The only person we hear from is Harry, who compares their experiences to those of his mother

We have heard him speak before about his fear that history will repeat itself; that he didn’t want Meghan tormented by the tabloids and paparazzi like Princess Diana

It is admirable that he should want to defend his wife and speak so lovingly about his mother, however, his comment also affects the royal family and his father, Prince Charles, as he speaks of his mother taking care of herself must take care of their problems

In the past, I think Harry would have been more careful in his choice of words. If we were wondering whether the Sussexes were subtle or reserved in their answers, we would probably have our answer

At the start of the big build, we only have a week to find out what these “shocking” revelations are – and who is blamed for making their lives “incredibly hard” and “almost insurmountable”

Harry and Meghan were married in Windsor Castle in 2018 and their son Archie was born a year later

But the couple resigned from full-time royal life in March 2020 and were unhappy with the media watching, intrusion, limitation of their roles, and the racist attitude of some towards the Duchess

It was confirmed last month that they would not be returning to royal duties, which means Harry will be giving up his military honorary degrees
