According to DerbyshireLive, three prospects are waiting in the wings if Bin Zayed International’s proposed takeover of Derby County does not take place

It’s now been four months since Derby announced that a deal to take over the club had been agreed in principle

In early November, they released a statement that Rams owner and chairman Mel Morris had been discussing ownership of the club with Derventio Holdings (UK) Limited since May

The statement added: “These talks went so far that an agreement was reached between the two parties in principle

“The club’s submission to the Owners and Directors test for Derventio was approved by the EFL board on Thursday

“Derventio Holdings (UK) Limited, the ultimate controlling body of which is Bin Zayed International LLC, owned by Sheikh Khaled Zayed Bin Saquer Zayed Al Nayhan, can now proceed with the transaction which is expected to close very soon”

After four months the deal is still ongoing, but there could be a resolution next week as to whether the deal goes through or not

This comes amid reports that Derby is having “advanced talks” with Spanish businessman Erik Alonso about a possible takeover of the club, although DerbyshireLive understands that talks are not “advanced”

Alonso owns the management company WBD Sports and is supposed to try to buy the club on behalf of his company No Limits Sports LTD

He spent some time as an advisor to Dejphon Chansiri in Sheffield on Wednesday and reportedly tried to buy the owls but was turned down
