The Isle of Man social distancing rules have been completely abolished by the government after a 25-day lockdown

The restrictions were lifted at 00:01 GMT after the island recorded 20 days with no unresolved community incident

The healthcare system has returned to normal, all schools have reopened and shops and pubs have been able to welcome customers again

Prime Minister Howard Quayle said the end of Covid-19 restrictions was “a moment of relief and celebration”

The island is the only place in the British Isles where social distancing measures have not been taken after Guernsey was released on Jan. January was banned

Mr. Quayle said the lifting of restrictions on “breakers” was a result of the “collective determination, sense of duty and community spirit of the Manx”

However, he urged people to “remain vigilant” as the virus could return to the island

Although restrictions on the island have been lifted completely, the border remains closed to non-residents, with the exception of key workers or those with a compassionate exception

After more than six months without the need for social distancing measures, a panel of positive coronavirus tests was detected and the Isle of Man was diagnosed on Jan. Closed for the second time in January

Lockdown has come as a shock to the people of the Isle of Man after more than six months of relative normalcy, apart from the ongoing border restrictions

But there was also a sense of defiance that the island had repulsed by the virus during the first wave and there was a feeling that it could be done again

Well, three weeks after the last shutdown, this was the case and life has returned to normal

It has been 20 days since an unsolved case of Covid was discovered here and the government is confident that the virus has been eradicated for the second time

And this regained freedom certainly feels like a weight off your shoulders without having to worry any more about the virus circulating in the community

It was not without sacrifices companies closed their doors and lost much-needed incomes Manx residents have shown their commitment to social distancing, wearing masks, and sticking to their own households

Landlord Mark Ellison, who opened his Douglas bar just after midnight when restrictions were lifted, said he was “more than proud” that the island had eliminated Covid-19 for the second time

The 25-day lockdown had been “absolutely terrible” for his company and he was “wonderful” to be able to serve customers again

There have been a total of 434 cases of coronavirus on the Isle of Man, 15 of which are still active
