Amir Khan revealed that his mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and asked fans to pray for her

The boxer posted the devastating news on Instagram on his 1.3 million followers alongside a picture of him and his mother Falak, 54

Former world champion Khan, 34, wrote: “My dear mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Today she feels much better and stronger Please keep her in your prayers’

Amir’s father Shah told MailOnline: “We only found out last Thursday and we just want everyone to pray for Falak

‘She is a strong woman, a fighter and with Allah’s guidance she will pull this off

‘The family has been very supportive of us and the NHS has been amazing during these very difficult times Amir is currently isolating himself when he just got back from Dubai but faceted his mother every day and gave her the support that she needs’

Shah added, “If God willing, she will recover. Falak has the whole family around, they are on the phone with her all the time and we give her the support she needs. We are with her all the way

‘The world is in a very difficult situation with Covid but we are fortunate that we have so much love and support around us We will do our best for Falak but at the end of the day everything is in Allah’s hands’

Shah announced that Falak has also been diagnosed with jaundice and that a stent will be placed next Monday before her cancer treatment can begin

He added, ‘The NHS is doing incredible things not just for Falak, but for the whole country and we are very grateful to them’

In response to Amir’s Instagram post, fans responded with a series of moving messages, one of which stated, “In my prayers champion,” another said, ‘Lord bless her and help her recover quickly Amen ‘

Fellow boxer Adam McKola sent his best wishes and replied: “Greetings to your mother and family ‘

One fan wrote: “May Allah allow her a speedy recovery. As a son, it is now time to take good care of her. She is precious and needs to be well cared for”
