TV favorite Ant McPartlin suggested his girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett on Christmas Eve, but plans for a summer wedding seem unlikely, as it looks like the couple will have to wait until 2022 to tie the knot

Ant McPartlin may have to wait until 2022 to marry his new fiancée Anne-Marie Corbett after making a proposal on Christmas Eve

The TV favorite, 45, popped the question last week and his former PA said yes

However, plans for a summer wedding seem unlikely due to the ongoing restrictions on the coronavirus outbreak, so the couple may have to wait a while before walking down the aisle

A source told The Sun: “Obviously, getting engaged in the middle of a pandemic is not ideal when it comes to planning a wedding

“At the moment a summer ceremony is extremely unlikely, so it could be a matter of 2022”

Ant’s longtime television co-host, Dec, is said to be “excited” for the couple and is expected to be his friend’s best man by the time they can finally exchange vows

A spokesperson for Ant said the Christmas Eve proposal was made at home in “a very romantic setting”

When the couple can finally tie the knot, it will be Ant’s second trip down the aisle, having previously been married to pop star make-up artist Lisa Armstrong

They were together for 23 years and married for 11 years until the relationship collapsed in January 2018

The divorce came at a difficult time for Ant as he battled his personal demons and was convicted of drink-driving

He retired from television work for the remainder of the year, leaving Dec to host Saturday Night Takeaway, and designing Holly Willoughby to take on I’m A Celebrity

They moved in with their children from a previous relationship and had two dogs of their own, while An continues to share custody of his beloved Labrador Hurley with his ex Lisa
