A Spurs spokesperson said: “We are extremely disappointed and strongly condemn this picture of some of our players with family and friends together at Christmas, especially as we know the sacrifices everyone has made across the country to during to stay safe during the holidays

“The rules are clear, there are no exceptions, and we regularly remind all of our players and staff of the latest protocols and their responsibility to abide by and set an example. The matter is handled internally”

West Ham said, “The club has set the highest possible standards in its protocols and actions related to Covid-19 We are therefore disappointed to have heard of Manuel Lanzini’s actions. The matter was handled internally and Manuel was strongly reminded of his responsibilities ”

This is not the first time Spurs players have broken the lockdown rules as there were multiple incidents during the first lockdown in the spring José Mourinho held a personal training session with Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Davinson Sánchez ran together while Serge Aurier was a repeat offender and had a haircut and personal training session with Moussa Sissoko
