Line of Duty star Vicky McClure has spoken about her belated wedding to Welsh director Jonny Owen

The couple were engaged on Christmas Day 2017 but haven’t found the time to tie the knot, Vicky said when she appeared on today’s episode of The Graham Norton Show

Actor This Is England joked that the couple who met on the set of Jonny’s 2014 film Svengali will “end up at Gretna Green,” reports WalesOnline

Talking to Graham Norton about her plans, Vicky said, “We didn’t get married, but we haven’t even booked it yet. I would marry him tomorrow, but we never got around to cementing the plan. We’ll probably be with Gretna Land Green! “

Jonny Owen is known for his documentaries Don’t Take Me Home and I Believe in Miracles, as well as his show in Talksport and his column in the Sunday Times

Line of Duty co-star Adrian Dunbar also appears in the episode, and the couple discuss the popularity of Line of Duty and the new series

Talking about the 13 million viewers who tuned in for the final series, Vicky added, “It was a slow burn. The first series was great but we didn’t know we would get a second then we did a second and a half time behind us, in which suddenly the numbers were built up and since then it has just started – it’s big and the anticipation is enormous. It’s intense ”

When asked if they could reveal anything about the plot, Adrian added, “18 months have passed and the landscape has changed completely. We’re starting from a place that the audience is likely to initially shock things and do People have been moved, so the first episode will be one of those “head wrecks” for the audience ”

In 2020, WalesOnline sat down (virtually, of course) with Vicky and Jonny and they talked about their engagement and wedding plans.Jonny suggested to Vicky over Christmas 2017 that they put a ring box in the middle of Vicky’s favorite thing – tea bags

“Vicky, who makes the first cup of the day, walked between the tea bags and I had visions of how she put her hands in front of her face and started crying, but no, nothing, it was the exact opposite “Jonny revealed

“She said,” What is that? “I said,” Now look, open it“She opened it and asked me what it was and I said,“ It’s a ring, isn’t it, will you marry me? ”It was the biggest climax ever. But she said yes, so that was okay”

“The ring was in a box so I was a little confused, it was early morning, it was Christmas Day,” said Vicky. “You know, when you’re half asleep I said,” What is this? “And he said,” It’s a ring, “and I said,” What? “Completely confused Half asleep Christmas Day

“We tried to book the wedding and we kept looking at different things, but what was going on professionally this year and how the world is now we would never find the time. I feel for a lot of people who booked and arranged weddings So, as always, we’re getting closer to the big day

“Right now I’m happy to have a curry with my joggers and watch TV with Jonny. That’s the highlight!”
