Nashville, Tenn (23 December 2020) – Nashville Predators President for Hockey Operations / GM David Poile announced on Wednesday that the team has signed striker Mikael Granlund for a year with a $ 3 75 million contract

Granlund, 28 (260292), ended his first full season with the Predators in 2019-20, scoring 30 points (17g-13a) in 63 games.His 17 goals were the third highest one season in his eight-year NHL career and the fourth highest for the Predators The 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward contributed in all situations for Nashville last season – his four power play goals were the third most on the team and he was one of five Predators skaters who Granlund was understaffed with four hits for the Predators leader, the most notable of which came in February 27 vs. Calgary, where he became the fourth player in NHL history to score a game-winning goal in the last 10 seconds of regulation and overtime winner (regular season and playoffs) After the Predators, John Hynes was named head coach on January 7, 2020, Granlund scored 16 points (11g-5a) in Nashville’s last 28 regular season competitions, the third highest on the team in that time span

Granlund was originally drafted in the first round (ninth overall) of Minnesota in the 2010 NHL Draft Granlund was taken over by the Predators from the Wild in February 2019 and has skated 79 games with Nashville with 35 points (18 g) -17a) Since his NHL debut in the 2012/13 season, the native Oulu from Finland has played with Nashville and Minnesota scored 352 points (111 g to 241 g), the second highest among his compatriots during that time span and the ninth highest among skaters in his drafting class.In addition, he has reached the 40 point mark in five of his eight NHL seasons and was awarded for nominated the Lady Byng Award 2017, which is given to the player who shows the best sportiness and the best gentlemanly behavior

Granlund has represented Finland several times on an international level, including at the 2014 Winter Olympics, where he had seven points (3g-4a) on his way to a bronze medal and a place on the tournament’s All-Star team. Granlund took three times participated in the Junior World Championship and was his country’s captain in 2012, where he led all skaters in assists with nine assists.He also qualified for Finland at the 2011 World Championship, winning the gold medal and the 2016 World Hockey Championship before joining the Wild Granlund was a product of the Karpat and HIFK programs in Finland and ran in 129 Liiga competitions with 127 points (41g-86a)
