Manchester United celebrated their first home win in the Premier League on Saturday night and scored a hard-earned 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made two changes to his previous starting XI, replacing injured Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay with Alex Telles and Nemanja Matic, with the former making his Old Trafford debut, Paul Pogba in particular, was in France with an ankle injury removed from the 18-man squad
United wore black armbands in homage to the late Albert Quixall and started off brilliantly Anthony Martial almost scored in the first minute with a fleeting header from Juan Mata’s cross, but the outstanding opportunity for the opening phase came on 17 minute
It started with Harry Maguire intercepting a loose ball on the center line, driving it forward, and Marcus Rashford playing it far in front of his cross, Fernandes found his cross and the Portuguese put down Martial, whose close-range shot was brilliantly saved by former United man Johnstone
Not to be outdone on the other end, United Nr1 David De Gea showed his quality a moment later with a brilliant stop with his fingertips to hit Karlan Grant’s right footed shot just inches from the post
The Baggies had a deep line of defense and that frustrated the Reds, but Fernandes could have done with 33 Minute almost inspired an opening, with an excellent pass towards the back post, which Mata steered back into the six-yard box. A distraction from a defender left the ball in the air and Martial was slightly 50/50 from the advancing Johnstone beaten
Maguire was next up with a thunderous volley that slapped West Brom captain Bartley in the face, who fell into a pile, but he got up quickly and would have found himself in 42 Minute almost hit with a header landed on the roof of De Gea’s goal

SECOND HALF – BRUNO PENALTY DRAMA IN BOTH ENDS
The start of the second half was unusually delayed by about 30 seconds after Referee Coate reprimanded a West Brom coach for guiding his players through a warm-up exercise on the field – which was frustrating that a lot of pins had to be removed other side of the field
When the game was finally resumed, the referee was right in the middle of it: After Fernandes had obviously fouled Conor Gallagher, the visitors were initially awarded a penalty before he dramatically reversed the decision after consulting his VAR monitor on the sidelines
But there was more theater to come: after De Gea made a breathtaking save with his foot to deny Conor Townsend, United won a penalty on the other end when Mata’s cross hit Darnell Furlong’s hand and Fernandes saw his penalty saved by Johnstone but the former Red stepped off his line and our Portuguese playmaker successfully found the opposite corner with his replay
West Brom manager Slaven Bilic made two changes shortly after this concession, and one of his successors, Callum Robinson, caught attention when his curling shot bounced off the crossbar on West Brom stopper Johnstone, who made his excel at being a feat continued couple of brilliant saves to deny Rashford and then Maguire must be recognized

A tense final ensued as it rained at Old Trafford and Solskjaer’s Reds, foiling a late West Brom rally and securing a valued Premier League victory

United’s attention is now focused on the UEFA Champions League and an important Group H game against Istanbul Basaksehir at Old Trafford on Tuesday
