When Brittany Murphy suddenly died at the age of 32 just before Christmas 2009, it shocked Hollywood and her fans

The actress, best known for her roles in Clueless and 8 Mile, also claimed a number 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100

On 20 December 2009 she fell into the arms of her mother Sharon in the bathroom and died

Sharon spoke about the tragic moment and said Brittany was crying, “Mom, I can’t catch my breath Help me”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress had suffered from symptoms of the flu the days before, but her death was classified as an accident by the coroner

Doubts about her death came to the fore when her husband Simon Monjack died just months later after denying Brittany was dependent on prescription drugs

The couple married in 2007 after meeting on the set of White Hotel in 2001

Speaking after it was reported that numerous pill bottles were found at the crime scene, Monjack stated, “My wife did not abuse any prescription drugs I knew”

The Los Angeles County coroner concluded that Brittany had died of pneumonia-related anemia

Coroner Asst was speaking to people at the time Chef Ed Winter said, “She was really sick with pneumonia, very anemic, and she was taking medication and everything that together killed her”

When asked if illegal drugs were found in Brittany, she replied, “It was only prescription and over-the-counter drugs”

What was the shame of Brittany’s death was that if she had seen a doctor it would have been “preventable”

Winter continued, “This death could have been preventable. Murphy intended to see a doctor, but unfortunately she died before she did

“This was a case of a person with pneumonia who was anemic and was taking medication when they should have received medical treatment”

Monjack denied claims he prevented his wife from getting medical help, saying they thought it was the flu

He said, “I had no idea she had pneumonia. I took very good care of my wife, she had an antibiotic and she was taking cough suppressants and doing the right things”

Five months after Brittany’s death, Monjack died under similar circumstances in the same room where his wife died

While LAPD Commander Andrew Smith described her death as “just tragic circumstances,” Monjack spoke about how he was lost without his wife before he died

He stated that he had lost direction in his life and said at the time: “I had a life I never dreamed of I saw the sunset on five continents I would trade everything with Brittany for another day” / p>

“I lost my life. She was my best friend and she was a little girl who wanted her man right there. What else do I have?”
