Massena: Barbara K Pepe, 91 years old, passed away on Wednesday, May 23rd December 2020, in the & care facility Massena Rehabilitation The arrangements are supervised and managed by Phillips Memorial Home in Massena Currently there are no public telephone hours A memorial mass will be held in St Mary’s Church, Massena, with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Massena

Barbara was born on 4 Born October 1929 in Watertown to Kenneth and Ella (McRae) Kenney

She graduated from the Immaculate Heart Academy, where she was a standout member of the swim team.After graduating, she worked as a telephone operator for NY Telephone and Telegraph.She married Joseph Pepe on Jan. November 1951 in the Sacred Heart Church April 2011 After her children were older, she worked as an Avon Lady and cashier at Brad’s Big M Supermarket in Massena until she retired. After both Joe and Barb retired, they spent the winters building their Palm Bay apartment, Enjoy Florida and make friends with many on the property. She hibernated in Florida for a few years after Joe passed away. Barb was a keen fisherwoman and later a golfer, and scored her first hole in one at the age of 63. She loved reading and reading imparted this love for books to her children. She was a fabulous cook known as “The Lasagna Queen” for her traditional Christmas dinner with family and close friends. She knew how to knit and crochet, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and puzzles. Barb was also a big contributor to the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino win

Barbara is survived by her two children David and Cookie Pepe from Massena, NY, as well as her daughter Susan Pepe and her companion Dodie Hanks from Watertown, NY. Two granddaughters Olivia (Andy) Marlow from Massena and Tara (Steve) Fuller from Plattsburgh, NY, as well as two great-grandchildren Barb is also survived by her brother Larry and wife Fran Kenney of West Yarmouth, MA, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends whom they considered important part of their extended family
