“Jane the Virgin” actress Greice Santo says a scene with her and the Looney Tunes character Pepé Le Pew was removed from the upcoming sequel to “Space Jam”

It wasn’t clear if the decision to cut the scene was related to the recent review of the character, a horny skunk who speaks with a French accent, in a column published last week by pollster for the New York Times, Charles M Schlag said the character “normalized rape culture”

Warner Bros, the studio that will release Space Jam: A New Legacy in July, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The film is a sequel to the 1996 sports comedy starring the great NBA player Michael Jordan with Bugs Bunny and collaborated with other digitally animated Looney Tunes characters

The Entertainment News Deadline Deadline reported that Pepé Le Pew was slated to appear alongside Santo in a black and white scene that parodies the classic drama “Casablanca”

In the scene, Pepe allegedly starts punching Santo’s character and starts kissing her arm, but she pulls back, slamming him on a chair, pouring him a drink and slapping him, causing him to spin in a bar stool

In a statement, Santo’s agents said they were dismayed that the scene had allegedly been cut from the film

“Though Pepe is a cartoon character, Greice wishes if someone hit a sexual molester like him it was her,” said Santo’s manager

“Now the scene is cut and she has no power to influence the world through the younger generations who will watch ‘Space Jam 2’ to let young girls and boys know that Pepe’s behavior is unacceptable”Manager added

Santo has publicly campaigned for women to stand up to sexual predators and sexual misconduct Three years ago she recorded the song “Você Você,” a Spanish-language title about a woman who is relentlessly molested by a man

“I was inspired by the courage of all women in the #MeToo movement to finally take a stand and say,” No more “”, Santo was quoted at the time of the debut of the song
