Brian Dietzen weighed the devastating twist on his NCIS character Jimmy Palmer in season 18

The last episode, which yesterday (9 February) aired in the United States, witnessed a time jump to the coronavirus pandemic in which medical doctor Jimmy’s wife, Breena, tragically died after succumbing to the deadly virus

“I was told this was going to happen, that Jimmy was going to lose his wife before I received this script, the producers let me know we want the rise of COVID to hit our team

“Yet we don’t want to lose a team member The prospect of making Jimmy lose his wife, the most optimistic team member to lose someone, came to the table and they thought it would be a great storytelling mechanic – though very, very sad

“So they moved on. I was notified in advance and emotionally prepared for this,” he added

Also, regarding a possible breaking point in the future, the Jimmy actor commented, “I certainly think it’s more of a processing than anything

“I told the writers and producers on our show that I really didn’t want to see Jimmy Palmer lose his eternal optimism over something like that, and I think we were all totally on the same page

“They said, ‘Oh god, yeah, we have to have Jimmy so easy that he’ll be on the team for sure,” And if there’s ever a test for that light, it’s a loss of that kind, so I guess that Jimmy Palmer will definitely handle more in the future “
