LOS ANGELES – – Dennis Schröder scored 24 points, Kyle Kuzma added 21 and the Los Angeles Lakers rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat the Orlando Magic 96-93 Sunday night

Montrezl Harrell added 18 points and 11 rebounds for Los Angeles, who have won two straight wins without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but the Lakers had a tough time shaking the Eastern Conference’s second worst team

Orlando’s Otto Porter Jr I had a clean look at a 3-pointer to send it into overtime, but the shot hit the edge

“It wasn’t nice, but we played well. This is a tough night of shooting, but our defense got us through,” said Lakers coach Frank Vogel

Los Angeles improved to 2/3 without James and Davis. You are fourth in the Western Conference between 30 and 17 and are 2 1/2 games ahead of Denver and Portland. You are also two games behind second-placed Phoenix and one game behind the third-placed LA Clippers

“We have probably the most candid looks we’ve had all season, especially on 3-handers,” he said

There were nine changes in leadership and three draws in the first 13 minutes before the Lakers advanced 17-3 to 39-26 and had less than three minutes left in the second quarter. The Magic rallied to half-time (44- 39) hit a five point deficit as Bacon had seven points down the line

Markieff Morris’ 3-pointer put the Lakers 61-53 ahead before Orlando scored eight goals at 2:12 in the third quarter and there were three more draws in the quarter as it was 69 – all going into the final 12 Minutes

Wendell Carter Jr, Hampton and Porter played their first games for Orlando after being acquired in trades Thursday after the Magic traded five players – including their top three goalscorers – in three separate deals

All three came off the bench Hampton had 10 points in 17 minutes while Carter scored eight points in 20 minutes. Porter had five points in 25 minutes, including a long 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter to get it at 69 bind

“They get used to it and have done some good things. We’ll play better over time, but if we do basic things we’ll win the game,” said Clifford. “We won’t make up anything that’s bad Franchises do so, especially at the end of the year

Magic: G Michael Carter-Williams suffered a bruise to his right knee in the second quarter and did not return. He was goalless in 13 minutes. G Terrence Ross missed his seventh game in a row because of a sore right knee, Orlando is 1-19 when it is kept below 100 points

Lakers: Announced ahead of the game, they have signed C Andre Drummond. Three players have played doubles for the second time this season: Kuzma, Harrell and Morris (12 points, 11 rebounds)
