Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters that Frederik Andersen was not serving as a substitute goalkeeper against the Calgary Flames on Saturday night due to a lower body injury

Sheldon Keefe says Frederik Andersen was unavailable for backup tonight. He has been dealing with lower body injuries

Jack Campbell started while Michael Hutchinson was called back in an emergency before the game and served as a backup

Campbell, who has just made his second start since Jan 24 with a leg injury, stopped all 31 shots as Toronto scored a much-needed 2-1 win at Scotiabank Arena

Keefe added that Andersen’s injury was something he had previously been dealing with. He missed four games because of the injury in late February and early March. He’s 2-5-0 with an 876 percent saved since returning to the line-up at 3 March

The Maple Leafs will be back in action on Thursday when they take on the Ottawa Senators, Keefe said it depends on how things go

“We really need to see how they are doing with all of our goalkeepers including Jack [Campbell] Fred for example was not available tonight to back up for us so we need to monitor his situation Jack, of course we know what he’s been through here so may not need a decision to be made by the goalkeepers themselves based on their health which can determine it for us “
