British Columbians who would like to camp on site in the coming months can book a place in the province from Monday

The online reservation system goes into operation at 7 a.m. Appointments up to two months in advance. The reservations are open continuously in spring and summer

Locals are given priority access to campsite reservations, and anyone who logs into Discover Camping’s site will be asked to confirm that they are a C. Resident addresses are also used when creating a Discover Camping account

From the 8th July will allow people from other provinces to reserve campsites for the rest of the summer

When officials first announced the opening of camping registration, they warned that the system would likely be quite full, especially with COVID-19 limiting travel options

“We are all looking forward to another summer of camping and outdoor recreation in BC.and while public health concerns and advice remain, we urge people to choose a campsite as close to where they live to avoid long road trips and unnecessary travel, “said George Heyman, Minister for the Environment and Climate Change Strategy , in a press release late last month

Officials have also reminded residents that public health guidelines are likely to still apply if people go camping and can change at any time. Campers must adhere to gathering orders, even if the number of such gatherings is below the maximum allowance for the location lies

The demand for camping was so high during the pandemic last year that more than 50000 people at the same time as the opening tried to register on the reservation page
