The three positive cases, including Bruneau, were found on charter flights with players, coaches and officials to the Australian city ahead of the tournament on Saturday

Despite following all safety protocols, including receiving a negative test result within 72 hours of his flight, Bruneau said he tested positive shortly after arriving in Melbourne

During flights with tennis players, coaches and officials before the Australian Open, three coronavirus cases have now been found

A total of 47 players from two affected flights? one from Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi? are now in a strictly enforced 14-day quarantine without the opportunity to leave their hotel rooms or even to practice

The director of the Australian Open tournament, Craig Tiley, made a statement that the 24 players who were on the flight from Los Angeles would not be able to leave their hotel rooms for 14 days until they are medically cleared

“We are communicating with everyone on this flight, and especially with the playgroup, whose conditions have since changed, to make sure that their needs are as best served as possible and that they fully assess the situation,” said Tiley

“I am very sad and apologize for the consequences that now lie on everyone who shares my flight”He said the rest of my team is negative and I sincerely hope that any further disruption is kept to a minimum”
