The body of a missing 17-year-old was found in the water near the Royal National Park south of Sydney

Finn Hocking’s body was discovered Monday, approximately 25 miles from the place where he was last seen alive

A public appeal was launched to find the teenager after he disappeared from his home in North Bondi, east Sydney

He was last seen by family members at the O’Donnell Street residence around 11 a.m. Saturday, 30 p.m.

News of Finn’s death has shocked the local community and tributes are pouring in on social media

Finn was reported missing on Sunday Posters showing his face were posted near where he was last seen in North Bondi

Finn was an avid photographer and board rider at the Bondi Board Riders Club who said they missed the polite and helpful young man

“Finn has been a big part of BBR and has been a member since he was able to surf,” read a Facebook post from the club

‘Through his passion for Hocking Images, Finn has provided the club with exceptional recordings of every comp and press evening over the past two to three years.

‘Sitting there all day, every competition, whatever the weather, taking a break just to surf his heats but it was like he never missed a shot and we were stocked for him when he stopped had to do what allowed him to pursue a career in cabinet construction that year and work six days a week ‘

‘He was always a polite, gentle, kind and helpful young man. At the moment we are all brokenhearted,’ read the Facebook post

Finn was an avid board rider with the Bondi Board Riders Club who went on Facebook to pay tribute to the 17-year-old

‘For members who need assistance during these times, please reach out to a loved one, friend, or the club, Let’s Be There For Each Other Now More Than Ever’

‘Heartbreaking and devastating for such a good child and his family. My heart breaks for his family. Sorry for your loss,’ wrote one person on Facebook

The Royal National Park is a popular destination for locals and tourists and is less than an hour’s drive from Sydney city center
