Seven Network announced today that it has acquired the exclusive Australian rights to Britain’s top-rated special Inside Chernobyl, which premieres on Monday at 7:30 p.m. on Channel 7

The feature-length special accompanies the British presenter and adventurer Ben Fogle on a unique journey as he spends a fascinating week in the Chernobyl exclusion zone 35 years after the world’s worst nuclear accident

Fogle is given special access to the infamous Chernobyl nuclear power plant to see for himself the burned-out remains of Control Room 4, to stand directly under the huge protective arch of Chernobyl and to face the remains of the original sarcophagus

Exploring the enormous human cost, Fogle meets a police officer on duty that fateful night who witnessed the explosion firsthand. Fogle also examines the ruins of Hospital 126, where first responders were treated immediately after the explosion Ghost town of Pripyat and its legendary fairgrounds that never existed before meeting the incredible “Samosely” residents who still live in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and refuse to go

The strange place that Chernobyl has now become is also discovered in Chernobyl. Fogle participates in a local police raid on “stalkers” illegally entering the zone in search of thrills abandoned buildings erect makeshift houses, and even manages to arrange a rendezvous with a stalker to understand their motivation

Fogle travels to the Chernobyl Forests to discover an amazing story of the return of wildlife, from horses to wolves to bears with the planet at a turning point, Fogle wants to understand what Chernobyl legacy means, and if, in the world today he can find hope in the most unlikely place on earth
