WNBA All Star Center Liz Cambage has become Australian WNBL champion again with the Southside Flyers from Melbourne

Cambage struggled early on, but had 14 points and five rebounds in the Flyers 99-82 win over Townsville Fire in the WNBL grand final on Sunday

The triumph of the Flyers was particularly poignant for Cambage and teammate Jenna O’Hea, who were WNBL champions together for the Bulleen Boomers back in 2010/11

Leilani Mitchell was named the Outstanding Player of the Game with 31 points as the Rachael Spur Medalist

The season was packed into seven weeks, and all eight teams moved to Queensland to play

The 29-year-old, England-born star missed WNBA season for the Las Vegas Aces after receiving medical apologies from the league’s independent medical group, which she viewed as a high risk of serious illness if she settled infected with COVID 19

Cambage averaged 159 points and 82 rebounds last season for the Aces, their first on the team

She played in the WNBA for four years after being drafted second by the Tulsa Shock in 2011

It was traded from Dallas to Las Vegas before last season and re-signed with the Aces in April In July she was medically excluded from the league
