A number of Perth locations have been put on COVID alarms after health officials confirmed a case of the virus in a hotel quarantine guard

The coronavirus case, believed to be the highly contagious British variant, has sparked a five-day tough lockdown in the WA capital

Anyone who has participated in the 16 locations listed below at the times indicated must be given a COVID test and self-isolating until a negative result is returned

But health officials urge people not to “rush” to testing clinics, which are likely to come under great pressure soon

“We are only asking you to be tested in the coming days while you isolate at home,” WA Health Secretary Roger Cook told reporters on Sunday afternoon

The new case came from a male security guard aged 20 who works at the Sheraton Four Points quarantine hotel

The security guard worked on the same floor as a person who was in quarantine with the UK variant of COVID

“The watch completed on 26 and 27 January two 12-hour shifts, “said Premier Mark McGowan

“He developed on Thursday the 28th January, symptoms, called sick and did not go to work in the quarantine facility ”

Authorities are investigating how the violation happened, but say he did not enter a hotel room
