Deslyler, Manly Sea Eagles coach, has admitted his concern about the growing number of injuries following their second-round loss to South Sydney

Despite an improved effort after being smashed by the roosters the week before, Manly still fell between 26 and 12 on Saturday night at the Brookvale Oval

However, Hasler’s biggest concern came after second rower Andrew Davey was taken off the field with a likely ACL break, which contributed to an emergency room that includes star full-back Tom Trbojevic

“It doesn’t get any easier, especially with the injuries we sustained today, Andrew Davey with a very likely ACL that ends his season,” he said

“He’s not going to fix all problems (Trbojevic) We definitely won’t push Tom back

“The season is getting off to a pretty tough start and we just have to drive through and get the players back to the park

Curtis Sironen is also out for 4-6 weeks, while the recently signed Haumole Olakau’atu will be out of action for at least a month after dislocating his elbow in the NSW Cup last weekend

In the same week that he signed a contract extension as head coach, Hasler said he was happy with the improved effort, but admitted that his team lacked execution

“I think you can describe the game as a much better effort. You were gallant, you went to great lengths,” he said

“The fact is, we had an opportunity there, got back into the game twice and found ourselves in a situation where we could have gotten on with the game

“I thought we started well, but moments in the game have to be better than what we are now. We have to be aware of that and the two points were there and we didn’t move on. We have to reinforce and fix that

“It’s going to be difficult. It’s early, it’s only the second round. As long as we keep the level of competition we were in tonight, we have to keep that”
