A returning traveler who completed mandatory Melbourne hotel quarantine prior to flying to Queensland has returned a positive result for the more transmissible British variant of the virus

The woman is now isolated at home with her parents in Maleny on the Sunshine Coast

Dr Jeannette Young, chief health officer, told reporters Saturday that the woman was born on Jan. December came to Victoria from Great Britain and completed the hotel quarantine

“She got rid of all symptoms in the ten days required for isolation and was allowed to leave Victoria and fly to Queensland,” she said

For Jetstar flight JQ570, which launched on Nov. Arriving in Brisbane on January 23rd at 11:00 p.m., a public health warning was also issued

The young woman was tested in Queensland on Friday when she got another positive result – but Dr Young said the risk was “extremely small”

“The risk is extremely low as it is at the end of its potential infection period and we would not be affected at all with a normal variant,” said Dr Young

“We will be in contact to track down the people on the flight who were sitting in the two rows fore and aft on either side, and we will be sending messages to other people on that flight to be aware and tested if they develop any symptoms, ”she said

“Anyone who lives in and around Maleny and develops symptoms can contact us immediately and be tested

“As I point out, this is very, very, very low risk, but it’s not zero risk so we’re just taking all these precautions”

“Queensland Health urges anyone who visits Coles Sunnybank Hills Shoppingtown on Nov. January 3, 2021 between 0730-0800 or Woolworths Calamvale North on Jan. Visited between 1100-1200 January 2021 to be tested and quarantined for 14 days since visiting these venues”Queensland Health said

“The Public Health Department has determined that anyone who has visited these venues is in close contact with the most recently confirmed case”

Queensland Prime Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk is not concerned about speculation Brisbane could lose fourth test of cricket

The lockdown came amid rampant speculation that India would refuse to play the series finale at the Gabba as planned, dissatisfied with the restrictions imposed by the state government

Cricket Australia (CA) and Queensland Cricket continue to plan to hold the fourth Test, which begins Friday in Brisbane

“As I said yesterday and the day before, discussions are still taking place,” said Palaszczuk on Saturday

It remains unclear what amount could be possible for the fourth test, should it take place at the Gabba as planned, as 100 percent capacity was expected prior to recent COVID concerns

Queensland officials could theoretically follow Sydney orders to make masks mandatory at all times except when eating and drinking to justify a small amount

The capacity of the SCG has been reduced to 25 percent due to concerns about the risk of the virus spreading to the stocks
