A fifth checkpoint will be added on the New South Wales border after more than 300 vehicles have been re-introduced since Queensland border restrictions were turned away

“People tell us stories about being out of the Sydney area If the police question them, they can evade their answers and are unable to provide receipts

Chief Superintendent Wheeler said emergency vehicles and personnel would have 24-hour access through the electronic gates on Nerang-Murwillumbah Road and Tomewin Mountain Road

“We have extremely high traffic, there will be times when emergency services get stuck in traffic, and that’s not unusual,” he said
