The president of the Indian cricket board Sourav Ganguly was admitted to a hospital in Calcutta after a minor heart attack

Indian media reports that Ganguly, who ran India from 2000 to 2005, was hospitalized after complaining of chest pain while exercising on Saturday morning. He is reportedly in stable condition

There are reports that he will need angioplasty, a procedure that dilates the arteries to restore blood flow

The Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Jay Shah, posted an update on Twitter

“I wish and pray for the speedy recovery of @ SGanguly99 I spoke to his family Dada is stable and responds well to treatment,” wrote Shah

The International Cricket Council’s official Twitter account said Ganguly had suffered “mild cardiac arrest”
