Nick Kyrgios added another chapter to his love story with the John Cain Arena when a loud crowd drove him to a stunning comeback win in five sets against the 29th Seed Ugo Humbert drove

Kyrgios appeared to have imploded when he grappled with the chair umpire late in the third set and again early in the fourth. But he recovered and saved two match points when the Frenchman went 5-4 for the match in the fourth set

Then, with 5: 4 in the fifth set, Kyrgios’ fatal serve did the job for a remarkable 5: 7: 6: 4: 3: 7: 6 (2): 6: 4 triumph

Kyrgios will face the finalist of the Australian Open 2020, Dominic Thiem

in the third round on Friday evening

“I was just thinking about everything I would do if I lost this match,” he said after the match, referring to his typical drama

Twice he was two sets to one and was able to win – 2015 against Federico Delbonis and last year against Karen Khachanov. In the fourth round in 2015 he came back from two sets and beat Andreas Seppi

Kyrgios was frustrated for the first time in the first sentence when he was asked to rent a property several times in a row, even though he believed his markup was way over the net

“Reset the machine because the ball is so high (hand waving with arms wide apart) away from the net,” he told the chair umpire

Lets are called from an automated system that plugs into the top of the network itself

Kyrgios served at 4-5 and gave Humbert a setpoint via a double fault but was able to save it. He went on to win the game to increase the opening set to 5-5

But after Humbert held the serve to love, Kyrgios gave the French two more set points and a bad shot gave him an easy conversion to win the set 7-5, and Kyrgios then destroyed his racket

The decisive factor is that a Humbert mistake brought Kyrgios his first break in the game at the beginning of the second set and brought him 2-1 ahead

But in the game that followed, Kyrgios began limping a little and trying to shorten points, suggesting that a knee injury that was limiting him while preparing for the Australian Open flared up

Kyrgios was again frustrated that the let machine was affecting his game when he tried to play the second set at 30-30 and 5-4

“Turn off the machine it ruins the game Do you understand?” he wanted to lead the referee Marijana Veljovic

He still managed to win the next two points to win the set 6-4 and bring the match to one set

The mighty pair traded serves in the first seven games of the following set until Kyrgios winced and Humbert gave Humbert a 5: 3 lead and a chance for a third serve

To make matters worse, a violation of the code due to racket abuse stopped Kyrgios’ progress in the decisive game and the Frenchman used the capital to take a 2-1 lead in the game

Kyrgios’ frustration continued in the fourth set when Humbert broke for a 1-0 lead and a dominant position in the game

Kyrgios earned two breakpoints when Humbert served 4-3, but neither converted – the latter came with a bold, big second serve from the French. An ace saved a third breakpoint and then held for 5-3

While Humbert ran 5-4 for the match, Kyrgios pulled some magic out of it. He saved two match points – the second with a stunning backhand across the field as the French approached the net – and at the breakpoint a lucky net clip allowed one strong shot to stay in

The crowd burned when Kyrgios took a 6-5 lead, while Humbert took the lead at 15 and sent the fourth set to a do-or-die tiebreak

A bold forehand down the line gave Kyrgios the mini break for 2-1 and he held for 4-1 At that point, when the crowd went mad, the Aussie just had to take the set – and he won the tiebreak with 7: 2

In game five, Kyrgios battled a breakpoint and another argument with the referee over a let call to hold his serve before breaking Humbert 2-1 in game two

The loud crowd spurred Kyrgios on when he safely moved to 4: 2 and then 5: 3 and forced Humbert to stay in the game

Ajla Tomljanovic threatened to send shock waves through an already angry Australian Open, but could not boilover victory against the number 1 in the world2 Simona Halep

Tomljanovic led 5: 2 in the third and decisive set and served 5: 3 in the third round, but was broken twice in a row when Halep stormed home with 4: 6: 6: 4: 7: 5 victory

Tomljanovic got off to a shaky start, with double faults and casual faults, when she was broken in the game’s opening game, but she broke Halep’s serve three times in the first set with a brilliant shot

After working out a 4-2 lead, Halep tried to keep the set alive at 4-5.But in a mammoth game that lasted eight twos and more than ten minutes, Tomljanovic broke world # 2 for the third Time to seal the set

Halep saved an initial break and set point in a lengthy, high quality rally before Tomljanovic won another Halep responded with an ace Tomljanovic eventually defeated the opponent on her third attempt when Halep shot a shot in the net

The Australian struggled to maintain her high level and was instantly broken in the opening game of the second set, but broke back (again on the third attempt to break the point) to level the score after Halep added another forehand the line had sent headstrong

The pair traded pauses again, with Tomjlanovic’s extraordinary return giving her ample opportunity, Halep found her rhythm – and devastatingly strong forehand – and began pushing the Australian off the baseline during the rallies

At 3: 3 deficit, Tomljanovic fell back quickly with two mistakes that gave Halep two break points. A deep shot by Tomljanovic ONLY cut the baseline – Halep could hardly believe it and stared at the ball mark in disbelief after he hit the point had lost – before the Aussie cut the net at the next rally and the ball rebounded favorably for Halep to put the ball away easily, winners and seal the break

The pair held their service games for the remainder of the set as a greatly improved Halep overcame the Australian’s challenge and set the match up at one set apiece, with the second set ending 6-4
The pauses continued in the third and decisive set, with Tomljanovic taking a 2-0 lead before Halep broke back immediately

But after the point of the game – a marathon rally that Tomljanovic won with a forehand down the line – to hold the serve 3-2, the Aussie broke again and took an impressive 4-2 lead / p>

A bold drop shot allowed Tomljanovic to hold 5-2, but then Halep got the opportunity, held her own serve and broke Tomljanovic to 15, putting it to 5-4

Halep served to stay in the tournament and made 15-30 mistakes but won the next three points for 5-5

In the next game, a stunning backhand after a marathon rally saved one breakpoint for Tomljanovic, while a Halep mistake saved another. On the fourth opportunity, Halep broke for 6-5 and then served the match out

In the second game on Show Court 1, the giant killer Alex Bolt was not on the level of the Bulgarian 18 Seed Grigor Dimitrov

The Aussie went from head to toe with Dimitrov in the opening set, but stalled in the tie and lost 7-6 (1)

Then Bolt’s legs got tired after a week and a half of busy tennis when he dropped the second set 6: 1 and quickly fell out of the third set

At the Rod Laver Arena, 2019 champion Naomi Osaka proved why she is the favorite to win it all again in 2021 after having won the former world No. 1 came by 4 Caroline Garcia

In the second game tonight on Center Court, Alexander Zverev fought sixth against the American Maxime Cressy
