The celebrated singer Vanessa Amorosi is suing her own mother in court
She is looking for proceeds from previous royalties, tour revenue, and investments that she claims have disappeared, according to a lawsuit filed by Amorosi’s attorneys and received by The Age
She also claims that her mother – whom she is estranged from – took control of her finances in September 1999 when she was 17 years old This emerges from a statement of claims submitted by her lawyers
Court documents show that Ms. Robinson later started a company called Vanjoy, in which Amorosi and her mother owned half the shares
Subsequent non-performing income Amorosi was paid to Vanjoy, with Ms. Robinson controlling the financial transactions
In November 1999, Amorosi released the hit Absolutely Everybody, which catapulted her to the star of instant music
She performed at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 before touring overseas and in Australia
Amorosi claims she asked her mother to protect her money in the years to come, and Robinson believed to have set up additional financial escrow accounts
In a key example outlined in the lawsuit, Amorosi companies controlled by Ms. Robinson allegedly had incomes of 862 in 2000 and 2001$ 512 allocated
The now 39-year-old singer bought when he was 390000 a property in Narre Warren in southeast Melbourne
Amorosi seeks to become the sole trustee of the multiple trusts that Robinson founded, in addition to fair compensation for money paid to others during her career spanning more than two decades
The singer is based in Los Angeles and is said not to have spoken to her mother in a while
