Victoria will hold a state funeral for legendary music producer Michael Gudinski, who suddenly passed away this week

Stars like Kylie Minogue, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Barnes and Archie Roach paid tribute to the pioneer who founded Mushroom Records in 1972

Mr Gudinski was only 20 years old when he started Mushroom and subsequently formed Frontier Touring to play some of the biggest names in music in front of Australian fans

Michael Gudinski was driven by gut instinct and a wild passion for local talent, writes music reporter Paul Donoughue

He has become one of the most influential figures in the industry, having been described as “a passionate advocate of Australian music”, a “larger than life figure” and “always a musician”

“I visited Sue last night and offered her and the family a state funeral for an amazing Victorian,” he said

“It will be a celebration of his life; the details will be finalized in the coming days

“It has to be COVID safe of course, but I think we’ll be able to come together in an iconic place and celebrate his life and the mark he made and the legacy he leaves behind “
