Hours after the Wooroloo fire started, two new fires loomed overnight in homes in the southwest – one that was believed to have lit on purpose’

The fires – one in Yallingup and one in Injidup – were both reported just before 6:30 p.m. last night

DFES said the cause of the injidup fire was suspicious and may have been deliberately set on fire, but the exact cause of both fires is currently unknown

Both flames are now contained after a rain shower helped firefighters get them under control. More than 100 firefighters were called in at both locations

The flames, which were only 7 miles apart, had emergency alerts at the same time last night

As the fires through the giant fire of 11000 ha, dwarfing 86 homes in Perth’s eastern hills this week, the Yallingup fire burned near the tourist attraction of Ngilgi Cave

Just before 930am, the emergency warning for the injidup fire was downgraded to advisory level, while the yallingup fire was downgraded to advisory level earlier this morning

A Yallingup resident in the DFES “Red Zone” area said at 8:00 pm this evening that she could see smoke but had not yet been asked to evacuate

“I can see a lot of smoke. There are also people who walk frantically, but I haven’t been told what to do – the pub is still full of people,” she said
