Former Australian head of the Christian lobby, Lyle Shelton, caught the attention of the Queensland police after bragging about a “sneaky” border crossing on Twitter

Same-sex marriage activist who now works for Queensland MP Mark Robinson posted a series of photos on Twitter on Saturday titled “Sneaky run over the border and back Avoid the CCP Virus Police”

Many Twitter users have checked in with Mr Shelton online, while the Queensland Police response has drawn the most attention

“We are aware of this tweet and have further inquiries,” Queensland police said on Twitter in response to Shelton’s boast

The Queensland border is closed to anyone who has been in the COVID-declared hotspots in Greater Sydney and the surrounding area in the past 14 days

The state has not yet imposed border restrictions on Victorians, but Chief Health Officer Jeanette Young said Saturday she was “very concerned” about the escalation of the situation

“While we are not currently changing any restrictions for New South Wales and Victoria as we have seen, things can change very quickly with this virus So I continue to urge Queenslanders traveling to these states to reconsider their plans – if it is not necessary, you should stay here, ”she said in a statement on Friday

“The situation in Victoria and NSW is still very worrying. Queensland is in a good position right now as we acted quickly to make Greater Sydney a hotspot”
