The Covid-19 bans have had a huge impact on people around the world, and it is no different for Kate Ceberano and her family

The Australian singer, 54, burst into tears on Monday as she spoke about the impact the pandemic had on her 16-year-old daughter Gypsy

During an interview on Sunrise, the Bedroom Eyes star stated that she “felt” the blockage in her daughter’s eyes while writing her new song Hold On

‘I have a teenage daughter and she was sitting on top of me when I wrote this song,’ she said

‘And alone for hours, often, And I could see that she longed for company and a career that hadn’t even started, for a boy she hadn’t kissed. She longed for a life she hadn’t had lived ‘

A tearful Kate continued, “Actually, I just felt it through her eyes, I think I had everything I ever dreamed of and I thought, ‘Gee, this is really unfair”‘

‘It was like a cure, it was exactly what we all needed to get through. I’m glad we did it,’ she said

‘Even looking at the video footage [from the recording of the album], none of us cared about the face, hair, makeup or looks

‘It was, “No buddy, we make music and it means something to us to be together”‘
