Seven Network announced today that it has acquired the exclusive Australian rights to the world-class UK special Inside Chernobyl (Premiere 7) Monday 30pm on Channel 7

The feature-length special accompanies British presenter and adventurer Ben Fogle on a unique journey while he lives in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone for a week, 35 years after the world’s worst nuclear accident

Fogle is given special access to the infamous Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, where he can see the burned-out remains of Control Room 4, stand right under Chernobyl’s giant protective arch, and grapple with the remains of the original sarcophagus

Fogle investigates the human cost and meets a police officer who was on duty that night and witnessed the explosion first hand. Fogle also investigates the ruins of Hospital 126, where first responders were treated immediately after the explosion. He is also traveling to the ghost town Pripyat and its legendary fairgrounds that never existed before meeting the residents of “Samosely” who still live in the Chernobyl exclusion zone and refuse to go

Chernobyl is also the site of what Chernobyl has now become. Fogle participates in a local police raid on “stalkers” who illegally enter the zone in search of thrills. He discovers people who have been abandoned Buildings make makeshift homes, and even manage to arrange a rendezvous with a stalker to understand their motivation

Fogle travels to the Chernobyl Forests to discover an amazing story of the return of wildlife, from horses to wolves to bears with the planet at a turning point, Fogle wants to understand what Chernobyl legacy means, and if, in the world today he can find hope in the most unlikely place on earth
